What is the Gainzilla Station?
A smart camera analyzes your barbell movement and gives instant feedback - reps, tempo, range of motion, smoothness, and more - right on your phone after each set.
How it works
- 1
Scan the QR near the rack.
- 2
Tap "Start Set" and lift as usual.
- 3
Tap "Stop" (or it auto-stops), then view your metrics and bar path.
- 4
Processing usually takes seconds, but during peak times it may take 1-2 minutes.
What you get
- Clean rep count and a bar-path plot.
- Tempo & time under tension to guide hypertrophy work.
- Range of motion consistency to keep technique honest.
- Smoothness to spot bar wobble and fatigue.
- Optional PDF export for your training log or coach.
What we (don't) collect
- We compute metrics from the camera to analyze the barbell path.
- By default we don't store video.
- Optional: you may enable "Help improve Gainzilla" to let us keep short, access-controlled snippets to improve accuracy.
- Name is optional. If provided, your gym may see your set summary (for support/leaderboards).
Key metrics
Reps
Count of valid lifts.
Range of Motion (ROM)
How much the bar travels each rep, as a % of your set's usable range. Higher & consistent is usually better.
Smoothness (%)
How steady the bar path is (less wobble/jerk). 90–100% = very smooth; ≤80% suggests technique fatigue or instability.
Tempo (s/rep)
Average time per rep. Hypertrophy zones often land around 2–4 s/rep; power work tends to be faster.
Time Under Tension (TUT)
Sum of rep durations. More TUT generally supports muscle growth (with good form).
Eccentric/Concentric Ratio
Time lowering vs. lifting. ~1.0 is balanced; >1.0 emphasizes controlled lowering.
Fatigue Drop (%)
How much your peak concentric speed falls from early to late reps. Big drops mean you're fatiguing.
Safety first
- Warm up, use collars, and don't attempt maxes without a spotter.
- Stop if you feel pain or dizziness.
Quick FAQ
Do I need an account?
No. You can use it without logging in.
Do you store my video?
Not by default. Only if you opt in to "Help improve Gainzilla."
Can my coach see this?
You can export a PDF or share metrics. Your gym may have a staff dashboard for aggregate stats.
My rep count looks off - what now?
Tap "Send feedback" after your set and include the session ID - we'll review.
Is this medical advice?
No - these are training metrics, not medical guidance.
